Ursula Carlile
Ursula founded the Carlile Organisation with Forbes in 1958 operating at Drummoyne. Ursula first started teaching beginners and just above. From 1962 to 1964 Ursula coached the Dutch National team for three years with Forbes and was a coach for the Netherlands at the Tokyo Olympic games in 1964. In 1972 Ursula was the Assistant Olympic Coach to Don Talbot at the Munich Olympic Games. This was followed in 1974 with duties as Joint Head Coach for the Commonwealth Games at Christchurch New Zealand and in 1975 was the Coach for the Australian World Championship team at Cali Columbia.
During the 1970’s and 1980’s Ursula made various coaching visits to the Peoples Republic of China. Both Forbes and Ursula were named as Honorary Swimming Coaches to the Peoples Republic. Ursula was Head Coach of the Ryde-Carlile Swimming Club for over 25 years and is a life member of the club. Ursula’s committment to the club continues to this day, poolside at our club race nights and key competition meets.
